District Legal Services Authority, Phek in collaboration with District Administration, organised a sensitisation program on POSH Act 2013 with district heads of department at Deputy Commissioner’s office, Phek on 9th May 2025.

In his keynote address, DC Phek & Chairman of Mission Shakti, Rhosietho Nguori spoke with much concern about the issue of sexual harassment in Government office even in Nagaland. He therefore, suggested and asked the District Officers for setting up of Internal Complain Committee at their respective district offices at the earliest. 

Resource person, Mezivolu T. Therieh, NJS, District Session Judge & Chairperson, DLSA spoke on POSH Act 2013. She highlighted the sexual harassment result in violation of Article 14, 15, 19 and Article 21 of the Constitution of India, then explained the purpose of the POSH Act 2013 which provides protection of women against sexual harassment at work places. 

She also spoke on the role and responsibilities of the Heads of Offices as employers, and emphasised on formation/setting up of Internal Complain Committee (ICC) in the offices, where it has more than ten employees. She also explained on how to conduct enquiries, basing on complaint letter filed against sexual harassment. 

Retainer Lawyer for DLSA Phek, Vethothi Vero who chaired the program, highlighted on the brief history of Vishaka case and outcome of POSH Act 2013, and the Legal Service Authority Act 1987. The program was attended by the heads of district offices.
