A two day Training on iRAD/e-DAR for stakeholders of Nagaland under the aegis of the Nagaland Road safety Authority commenced from 20th - 21st September at Hotel Vivor, Kohima. The training was organised by the Motor Vehicles Department in collaboration with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) and Nagaland State Centre (NIC) along with the NICSI Central Team.
At the event, Secretary, Transport Department, Robert Longchari emphasized the critical role road use play in daily life. He highlighted that while road transport has shortened the distances, it has also increased life risk resulting in the loss of lives and serious injuries. He informed that District Road Safety Committees have been established across Nagaland and are implementing Road Safety Programmes year round. The Motor Vehicles Department, the lead agency, monitors and coordinates to ensure compliance to all the parameters set and as directed by the Nagaland Road Safety Authority and the Supreme Court committee on road safety.
Robert Longchari added that with iRAD/e-DAR in place, the integrated data instant information, systemic mechanism for processing accident reports and claims on road accidents, all enabled electronically will bring relief to victims and even check fake claims. He called upon all stakeholders to put their efforts in this common platform and work as a team to zero down the accident and fatality rate in the state and also help facilitate in the improvement of road safety and infrastructure.
In his Keynote address, Transport Commissioner, Elias T. Lotha stated that the Nagaland Road Safety policy was adopted in 2017 as a response to the need of addressing road safety and its improvement in the state. This policy aims to positively impact lives through imparting, learning and adoption of safety measures as a way of life and added that it has become imperative to advance these approaches in a mission mode. Road are built for all and everyone must use the roads courteously.
Sharing a brief overview of iRAD and e-DAR, Chief GM, NICSI New Delhi Jitender Kumar said that the aim of the training is to sensitize all the Stakeholders/ Department on the iRAD/e-DAR, which is a database developed by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and is a central repository for reporting management claim processing and analysis of road accidents data to enhance road safety in the country.
Welcome address was delivered by Additional Transport Commissioner, Keneingunuo Clara and the Status of iRAD & eDAR of Nagaland was shared by SIO NIC Lanusungkum Aier.
In the evening session, resource person, Program Manager, iRAD/ eDAR NICSI New Delhi, Pawan Gupta will share insights on Data visualization, Data analytics India Vs Nagaland July 2024, Road safety initiatives, suggestion for improvement, Overview of cashless treatment scheme for road accident victims during golden hour.
