The Ao Officers Telungjem (AOT), in collaboration with the Nagaland Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Mission (NSEDM), Government of Nagaland, organized a one-day sensitization program on skill development on 22nd July 2026 at the Town Hall in Mokokchung. The event was held under the theme, "Know your skills. Know your opportunities."
Speaking at the event, Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, underscored the critical importance of skill development in a rapidly changing world. He stated that acquiring new skills is vital to achieving the goal of a developed Nagaland and developed India. The Deputy Commissioner pointed out that despite having fertile land, rich natural resources, and strong social capital, the state is still not producing enough goods. He appealed to the youth to acquire multi-sectoral skills to drive the socio-economic development of Nagaland. Furthermore, he highlighted the urgent need to adopt advanced skills suited for the era of automation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT). He called for a supportive ecosystem, stressing the combined role of families, colleges, and local institutions. He also commended AOT and NSEDM for the initiative and thanked the Chief Secretary, Sentiyanger Imchen, IAS for prioritizing skill development.
The Inaugural Session was Chaired by Er. Pangjungkala Longchar, SDO, PWD (NH). Invocation was delivered by Dr. Butesan Ozukum, Secretary, ABAM Youth Ministry. Purpose and Objective of the program was shared by Imosong Imsong, Joint Commissioner (Taxes) and Vice President, AOT.
The Technical Session was Moderated by Er. T. Imlisunep Ao, Principal, ITI Mokokchung. Meripeni Ngullie (Under Secretary & Project Lead, NSEDM) spoke on shifting paradigms on job opportunities & Employment, while Nukholo Swuro (Mission & Training Coordinator, NSEDM) detailed available skilling opportunities under NSEDM.
Success Stories were Shared by local entrepreneurs Limamatsung and Akumtemsu (Founders, L&A Repair & Services) alongside Talirenla (Freelancer, Drone Mapping). The program included an interactive Q&A session and concluded with a vote of thanks by I. Lipokonen Jamir, Joint Director (Agri) and Vice President, AOT.
