Samagra Shiksha Nagaland organised the State Level Kala Utsav on 24th October 2024 at SIRD, Kohima. Kala Utsav, a flagship programme of the Department of School Education and Literacy (DSE&L), Ministry of Education (MoE), aims to foster and showcase the artistic talent of the student of Secondary Stage. This annual event provides a platform for students to explore and celebrate arts and cultural diversity at various levels—school, district, state and national. The event is aimed to initiate a comprehensive process of identifying, exploring, understanding, practicing, evolving and showcasing artistic talent of students.
At the formal event, Director, School Education Wonthungo Tsopoe, spoke on cultural values that students should imbibe. The State Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, Temsunaro Aier, IAS also exhorted the students and spoke about how the Kala Utsav initiative of the Ministry is an important platform to display the rich heritage and culture of Nagaland. Officials from the Directorate of School Education, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, DEO Kohima also attended the program. The program witnessed participation from the district winners for various competitions.

● Tribal Folk Dance: Baptist Higher Secondary School, Jalukie, Peren .
● Traditional Instrumental Music: NI Jamir Government Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung.
● 2D Visual Art, Moanaro of Government Higher Secondary School, Diphupar-A, Dimapur.
● Mono Act: P Chingmei Konyak of Government Higher Secondary School, Dimapur.
● Traditional Storytelling; Leu Tsuzuh and Dzuzuh-o Venuh of Government Higher Secondary School, Phek.
The winners will represent the State at the National Level Kala Utsav, 2024 to be held at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh in January 2025.
