As part of the celebration of the 25th Hornbill Festival of Nagaland, a grand Stone Pulling Ceremony was held starting from Napfülezha, Kigwema TCP Gate, and culminating at the Kisama Heritage Village on 4th December 2024. The event was graced by Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, as Chief Guest, alongside Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio as Chief Host and Tourism Minister Temjen Imna Along as Host. Other dignitaries, including Advisor Er. Kropol Vitsu and MLA Kevipodi Sophie, were present to mark the occasion.

Flagging off the ceremony, Minister Shekhawat lauded the Hornbill Festival as a vibrant global platform showcasing Nagaland’s rich culture, traditions, and diversity. He expressed confidence that with the continued support of the Government of India, the festival could attract even more global tourists. Reflecting on India's 75th year of constitutional democracy, he highlighted the transformational development in the Northeast over the past decade under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, pointing out Nagaland's potential to drive change in the next 25 years.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio emphasized the significance of the Stone Pulling Ceremony as a symbol of unity and cultural heritage. He expressed gratitude to the Southern Angami People Organization (SAPO) for organizing the event, celebrating the community's rich traditions and customs. Highlighting Nagaland’s history, Rio credited the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act of 1873 for preserving the region’s unique identity and urged for the continued protection of the state’s cultural legacy amidst modernization.

The ceremony featured traditional blessings by Kigwema Village Council Chairman Balie Kere, a 25-gun salute by SAPO, and a welcome address by SAPO President Er. Tepul Hopovi. Event leadership was provided by SAPO General Secretary Er. Swelul Pucho.
