In preparation of the 8th edition state wide mega mock drill exercise on earthquake disaster for Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx) 2026, a table top exercise was conducted on 29th April 2026, at DPDB hall, Longleng under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and chairman DDMA Longleng, W. Manpai Phom NCS.
Chairing the meeting the DC, said the scale of disaster preparedness exercises has been enhanced this year, marking a step further from previous years, and said the exercise is a serious opportunity to identify difficulties and gaps in response mechanisms. Through the 8th mock drill, all stakeholders must learn to prepare as if facing an actual earthquake or other natural calamity.
Four locations have been identified for the exercise. The drill, scheduled on 30th April will test the district’s preparedness level. Members were urged to activate and simulate response systems to the maximum possible extent, reflecting real-life and real-time conditions.
The DC, also appreciated the stakeholders, line departments and officer in-charge for their presence and cooperation in the exercise.
Additional SP Longleng, Hiatwa Iralu NPS, spoke on the structure of the Incidence Respond System (IRS) comprising of responsible officer, Incident Commanders, Operation System, Planning Section and Logistics Section and various unit leaders involved. Accordingly, he briefed on the involvement of all line departments and their roles and responsibilities as per the IRS structure of the district.
