The Department of Transport has informed to all concerned that under rule 14 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules. 1989, the application for Driving License is to be made in prescribed Form, whereby the mobile number of the applicant is required to be filled in and entered in the Sarathi application.

While under rule 47 of the CMVR, 1989, the application for registration of vehicle is to be made in Form 20, wherein, the mobile number of the vehicle owner is required to be dully filled in and entered in Vahan application.

Therefore, in the interest of the general public, the department notifies that all Driving License holders and the Vehicle owners are mandated to update their registered mobile numbers against their Driving License and Vehicle Registration Certificates in the office of their respective RTOs/DTOs within a period of one month from the date of issue of this notification.
