A two-day District and Charge Officer training programme on Census 2027 concluded successfully at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Chumoukedima, on 18th of April, 2026.

Deputy Commissioner of Chumoukedima, Polon John, NCS, in his address stated that the district may encounter numerous crucial tasks during the census operation. He underscored the need for mutual support and coordination among all officials to ensure the successful execution of the exercise.

The second day of the programme focused on field-level implementation and operational procedures. Sessions covered self-enumeration processes, preparation of village, town, and charge registers, as well as detailed training on census procedures, concepts, and definitions. Officials were also briefed on Household Listing Operations (HLO) questionnaire items to ensure clarity and accuracy during data collection.

             In addition, participants received hands-on training on the District Census Handbook (DCHB) process through the web portal and mobile application, enhancing their familiarity with digital tools for efficient and streamlined data management.

            The programme concluded with a reflection and valedictory session, where participants reviewed key learnings and stressed the importance of preparedness, coordination, and dedication for the successful conduct of Census 2027.

            Officials acknowledged that the role of district-level administration will be critical in ensuring the accuracy and success of the census operation. They emphasized that the exercise will involve additional responsibilities alongside regular office duties and called for full cooperation and collective effort from all stakeholders.
