Union Minister of state for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Tourism, Suresh Gopi visited Niuland on 9th April 2025. The minister during his visit to the district held discussions with various departments and interacted with the leaders of civil societies.
The minister held intense deliberation and discussed with the department officers in regards to implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes in the ground and advised them to speed up the remaining schemes that are yet to be implemented.
Acknowledging that Nagaland should have been positioned better than what it is today, the Minister asserted that Nagaland has huge and wide scope for tourism and its resources but there are some constitutional & revenue issues that need to be addressed. The minister also appealed to work together, deliberate and assess the capacity works that the department and the officials have put forward to have rapid action schemes in the days ahead.
Deputy Commissioner Niuland, Sara S Jamir in her welcome address said that Niuland being the new and underdeveloped district, the presence of the minister in the district is the manifestation of his true commitment for reaching out to the unreached people and bringing development to the door steps of Aam Aadmi in the grassroot level.
PowerPoint on various centrally sponsored schemes was presented by the departments of PHED, DRDA, Agriculture, Mission Vatsalya, Industries & Commerce and School Education.
President of Niuland District Gaonburas Association & Niuland Area Citizens Forum also spoke at the program and handed over their respective representations to the Minister.
Later the Minister visited Government High School Nito at Nikhekhu village and interacted with the school authorities and students. The program was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Niuland, S Athsangla.
