Commissioner & Secretary, SCERT and School Education, Kevilenuo Angami launched the Coffee Table book ‘Weaving Dreams - A Tribute to inspiring women of Nagaland’, felicitation of winners of SDG Essay competition 2024 and State Level Workshop on SDG Indicators Reporting Mechanism at de Oriental Grand, Kohima on 24th October 2024.
On the occasion, she said that the Coffee Table Book unveiled today was thoughtfully curated for the inspiring women of Nagaland who represent the very best of our state. Their stories transcend time, reflecting the challenges, triumphs, and aspirations of remarkable women, and they remain a source of inspiration for all of us especially the younger generation and changemakers. She commented the team behind this initiative for capturing these compelling narratives and creating a platform that not only celebrates these women but also encourages important conversations about gender equality and inclusivity and in line with ‘Sustainable Development Goal 5’ which calls for gender equality, this book serves as an important step in advancing the agenda of empowering women and girls in Nagaland.
She also congratulated the young minds who have participated in the SDG Essay Competition 2024 and the winners and stated that their engagement with the Sustainable Development Goals shows a deep understanding of the critical issues we face today.
She also mentioned that the workshop on ‘SDG Indicator Reporting Mechanism’ is essential for ensuring the effective tracking, monitoring, and reporting of our progress towards achieving the ‘Sustainable Development Goal’s. Collaboration and partnership are the cornerstones for achieving the SDGs, she added.
Nayantara Sasikumar, IES, in her opening remarks highlighted that this table book features the stories of 19 individual women and 2 women led organisations across 10 sectors who have made some exemplary contributions and gained national and international recognition for their work, the featured women have beaten all odds and made significant contributions to their respective fields, in education, entrepreneurship, Entertainment, Literature & Journalism, healthcare, disability, environmental conservation, science & technology or social services and sports. She also acknowledged each of the featured dignitaries for patiently engaging in this project and sharing their stories. She also congratulated the winners of the second edition of the Annual SDG Essay Competition 2024 stating that this competition was organized to give a voice to the young minds of Nagaland, to share their thoughts, ideas and solutions for a sustainable and inclusive future.
Meanwhile in the SDG Essay competition 2024, under the category of 15 years and below Bendangsola from Dimapur bagged the 1st position while Kupuli X. Ayemi from Zunheboto got the 2nd position and in the category of 16 years and above the winner was C. Chingo Konyak from Kohima with Livika Sumi from Dimapur as the Runner-up.
