The officers and staff of Nagaland House (NH), New Delhi commemorated World Environment Day on 5th June 2025 by planting fruit saplings and flowers in the premises of Nagaland House at 29-Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Road, New Delhi.
With this year’s WED theme being ‘Beat Plastic Pollution,’ Sharon Longchari, Joint Resident Commissioner, NH New Delhi addressing the gathering during the event, highlighted the negative impacts of plastic to our environment. She called on the officers and staff of Nagaland House to mindfully use plastic and help in creating a plastic pollution free area in Nagaland House. She said that achieving a plastic pollution free environment may appear to be an insurmountable problem at present but reminded about the success of Montreal Protocol, a treaty to protect ozone layer, when there is a collective objective. She further stressed on the need for individual responsibility in beating plastic pollution.
Dr. Hentok Phom, Joint Director, Health & Family Welfare and Senior Nodal Officer, NH, New Delhi shared about the chain reaction that can be caused when we carelessly litter our environment with plastic and the grave dangers it pose to human health. He encouraged all the officers and staff and sought for their commitment in achieving a plastic pollution free area in Nagaland House, New Delhi premises.
