The NSS Wing - Yingli Government College, Longleng organized a Sustainable Lifestyle Workshop on “Practice of Segregation of Dry and Wet Waste” in collaboration with the Environment Education Programme (EEP), Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB) at the Borgohain Hall of the College on 25th October’ 2024.
The workshop featured presentations by Y. Hanpong Konyak, Junior Scientific Asst., NPCB who spoke on ‘Mission Life’ and Khriehunuo Rutsa, Programme Officer, NPCB who gave an address on 'Solid Waste Management’. The workshop covered a wide aspect on threats and challenges posed by solid waste, including single use plastics, industrial waste, hazardous materials and household refuse highlighting their impact on both the environment and public health.
The workshop underscored the urgent need for social and behavioural change at multiple levels to achieve positive outcomes in solid waste management and effective waste segregation. Principal, Yingli College, Dr. T. Temsu Imti, delivered the welcome address.
