Advisor to Chief Minister, Nagaland Abu Metha held a meeting with heads of offices of Wokha district on 23rd April 2021 at Deputy Commissioner Conference hall Wokha.
While interacting with the Officers of the district the Advisor stated that the meeting was convened with a view to share the challenges faced by the Officers in the district level and to understand the problems and also to provide as a bridge to connect them with the Government and the various Head of Departments so that the government can better improve governance and enhance the mechanism of delivery. He said that it is also to ensure that whatever programmes and policies the State government has is reached to the genuine targeted sections.
The Advisor assured all the officers in the district that the Government and its agencies will support them in implementing any government policies in a meritorious and just manner. Metha also stated that if Officers in the district face any problem in implementing policies and programmes in a manner that is deviating with the laid down rules and regulation the government is there to support them and ensure that Officers are not under any duress while carrying out the government programmes.
He also added that the State Government has taken a decision last year to ban all appointment of government posts in view of the various factors primarily because of the COVID scenario and economic condition of the State, but recently the Cabinet took a decision that the ban of appointment will be lifted but on the condition that each department highlights specifically why the particular appointment has to be done and has to be approved through proper channel of Head of Departments and approved by P&R and recommendation from the Cabinet for appointment.
Highlighting on the various government policies Metha also added that the State Government recently took a decision to institute Public Park in all the district headquarters, he urged the District Administration to identify space, either available land or new government acquired land for establishment of public park and send report for the same at the earliest so that the policy can be implemented. He also stated that the government is undertaking exercise for coming-up with a blue print for sports development in the State and appealed to the Administration to identify space for creation of district level sports centre that will have sports facilities for multiple disciplines which falls under the prioritized list of the State Sports policy, and appealed to the District Sports Council that they must ensure that the policy and fund use of District Sports Council is in line with the State Sports Council and reminded them to be aware of the State Sports Council Policy.
Another area which the State Government announced is the budgetary provision for innovation fund to be implemented in each district, where he urged the district to come up with creative ideas for effective implementation. Stating if COVID restriction are lifted and reach better scenario the Government will be hosting this year the 2nd edition of the Nagaland Olympics and urged the district to prepare their own team for participation.
Addressing on the Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN) the Advisor stated that the intention of the State Government for implementation of RIIN in Nagaland is not for anything else but to incorporate the interest of Naga citizens. He also stressed on having good quality education, economic stability and in health sector where he urged all section of the society to extend help and work for the good future and good destiny for new Naga generation.
