Under the theme" Metamorphosis", the All Nagaland College Students Union organized a Collegiate meet on 18th October 2022 hosted by Sakus Mission College, Dimapur.

Speaking at the inaugural session, Minister of State for Sports & Youth Services, Tourism, Information & Communication Technology, Mizoram, Robert Romawia Royte said students of today have more opportunities and chances to survive and face the challenges of life than before. He said people play for medals, joy, fitness, and health and it can fight against anxiety and stress. He encouraged the students to take part in all kinds of games not only as a career choice but also to keep themselves fit and in good health. He further said that it is mandatory on the part of all institutes to integrate sports into the entire educational curriculum, as only fit people can be productive and successful.

Further, mentioning the National Education Policy 2020, he said that significant importance has been given to sports in the policy. All states are in the process of preparing to cope with new challenges ahead. “The government of Mizoram is committed to make the Mizoram state the fittest state in the country and the people of Mizoram the fittest people in the country,” he said. The Mizoram Sports Policy 2019 and subsequent granting of industry status to sports proved very fruitful in the endeavor for infrastructural and promotional advancement. He informed that the target for astroturf football grounds was 30 for 5 years and it has become almost clear that as many as 30 new astroturf football grounds will be in place before the end of 2023. A good number of other sports infrastructures are also being created across Mizoram, he added. 

            He congratulated the Nagaland U-17 Football Team for winning the prestigious Subroto Cup. “This victory is a clear sign of football talents and football potential in Nagaland”. He emphasized that Nagas have talents in Archery, Wrestling, Football, etc, and should wake up at the sounds of winning the Subroto Cup 2022.

Royte advised the students to set their priorities with due care and maintain discipline and personal hygiene and fitness. He wished the best to 1300 participants registered from 32 different colleges during the 5 days of sports week and encouraged all the participants to participate and compete in a true sportsmanship spirit. He also advised young people to obey their parents, as obedience to parents is the beginning of success, he added.

Chishi; Special song presented by Aloboli Kinimi; Greetings by President Naga Students Federation, Kegwahyun Tep; Administration of oath by Games& Sports Secretary, ANCSU, Achiru Pfithu.
