            As part of the ongoing Poshan Pakhwada in Mon District, Social Welfare Department Mon in collaboration with convergent Departments organised an Anemia camp for women and adolescent girls at Konyak Union Conference Hall, Mon on 22th March 2021. 

            DPO (ICDC) Mon, Tauhong Ngonyen stated that Poshan Pakhwada was observed every year across the nation mainly targeting the nutritional status of children in the age group of 0-6 years and pregnant and lactating mothers. He stated that through the camp, lifelong lessons would be gained and urged upon the participants to disseminate such valuable information to others. 

            Resource person, MO Shangnyu PHC, Dr. Penjei Konyak enlightened the participants on anemia, its various causes, symptoms and cure.  He stated that since anemia was more prone towards women, anemia camps are mainly targeted at adolescent girls and pregnant women. He stated that anemia was easily controlled through supplements, proper diet and medicine. He also highlighted the various iron rich food items that are locally available. 

            School Health Programme Coordinator, Mon District, Mewang Konyak highlighted the camp about National Deworming Day which is observed twice a year with a target group of 1- 19 years of age. 

            Altogether 125 participants were screened for anemia. The programme was chaired by District Project Assistant, Poshan Wangton and vote of thanks was delivered by District Coordinator Poshan, Nokyam Khoiyem.
