Celebration of 'Anna Yojana & Public Distribution System' under 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' was held at DC's Conference Hall Noklak on 21st April 2022 organized by the Food & Civil Supplies Department.

Speaking on the occasion as Special Guest, Deputy Commissioner Noklak Hiazu Meru said Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) is an additional allocation of foodgrains to all the beneficiaries covered under the Targeted Public Distribution System free of cost. DC mentioned that the scheme is a pro-poor initiative and taken up as a part of the economic response to COVID-19 to ameliorate the hardships faced by the poor due to economic disruption caused by the coronavirus. It provides additional foodgrains of 5 Kgs per person per month, DC added.

            Meru said as 'Anna Yojana & Public Distribution System' was celebrated under 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' the success stories of our great nation, all the beneficiaries were urged to give full support and cooperation to the government. Meru also released a Brochure during the occasion.

Sr. Inspector of Supplies, Noklak Metsisieto Zhasa in his keynote address, mentioned that 5 Phase of PMGKAY has been successfully implemented in the district. He also informed that PMGKAY Phase -VI has been flagged off which is from April 2022 to September 2022.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, Mucham, Musho, Pukho, and Newkai expressed their gratitude to the Government and Food & Civil Supplies Department for their timely distribution and expressed that they are fully satisfied with the Public Distribution System in the district.

Meanwhile, the programme was chaired by Inspector of Supplies Noklak, Okey Khiamniungan.
