ATMA Kohima district conducted a Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY) from 14th -19th February 2022 on “Vermi-Composting” at Sechü-Zubza Council Hall.
In a press release, it stated that the main objectives of the training were to impart skill-based training to Rural youth on Agri based vocational areas in Agriculture and Allied areas to promote employment of rural areas and for the creation of skilled manpower to perform farm and nonfarm operation. STRY activities are coordinated by the National Institute of Agriculture Extension Management (MANAGE), through State Agricultural Management and Training Institutes (SAMETI) at the State level.
Resource persons for the program were Dr. Keviu Shuya, Dy. PD (ATMA), Kohima and Rokoshuno Angela, Dy. PD (ATMA), Kohima. Topics were covered on Introduction to Vermicomposting, Vermi-composting materials/ biomass, methods of Vermicomposting, the process of Vermicomposting, Harvesting of Vermicomposting, and Vermi- worms, storage and packaging of Vermi-composting and economics of Vermicomposting.
Altogether, 22 participants attended the training program, and certificates were distributed to the participants.
