Awareness programme on SVEEP Campaign in collaboration with Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and District Administration Tuensang was held at Town Hall on 12th December 2020.
H P Gupta GT GHSS Thangjam was the resource person of the SVEEP Awareness Campaign. Speaking on the occasion he explained on the foundation of the SVEEP and its objectives in the Indian democratic set up. He also discussed on qualifying years of the young voters specially the female votes emphasizing on 944 national voter ratios in adverse to female. He cited the importance of female voters and their contribution in the election processes of the nation. The government of India has a keen interest in uplifting the female voters so that the female section of the population can play a vital role in electing their leaders, he added. Electoral registration should be a collective effort so that no eligible citizen can be left out he added.
Kumar Ramnikant, IAS Deputy Commissioner in his short speech said that India is a democratic country and voting right is a democratic right of every citizen which cannot be deprived. He was also of the view that we always keep on complaining about the developmental activities of the state but it is us who elects our leaders so should we choose responsibly. We can also be an agent of change by spreading such awareness message without breaking the chain so everyone can be reached to act responsibility in nation building processes, he said.
Ajit Kumar Verma IAS ADC Tuensang said every citizen who has attained 18 years of age is the voter citizen of our country and should take it as a responsibility and should contribute in nation building processes. There is no difference between male and female voters and should not be deprived as constitution of India says. He also said that the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao is very relevant looking into the lesser participation in every field he said.
Brief highlight on BBBP was also addressed by Naimkoi District Coordinator MSK where he mentioned a brief history of the origin of the BBBP Scheme and its importance and objectives.
Vote of thanks was delivered by Kevithitho Rose EAC Tuensang while the welcome address was given by Ren Mozhui AEO.
