Department of Art & Culture, Peren organized awareness rally on women empowerment at Jalukie, Peren on 22nd June 2022 to commemorate the 250th birth anniversary of Raja Rammohan Roy. The rally which saw a participation of around 250 school students holding placards with the awareness messages started at St. Xavier Higher Secondary School, Jalukie and was officially flagged off by EAC Peren, Ihoilung Chuilo.

Speaking on the occasion as the Special Guest, EAC Peren, Ihoilung Chuilo gave a brief life history of Raja Rammohan Roy and his fight against the sati system and about the inheritance rights of women which was not there before. 

In his speech, he also spoke about the need for a new generation of social reformer who can bring in change and empowerment to women in the 21st century and further extorted the students to be the next social reformer.

The programme was chaired by LDA, Art & Culture, Peren, Namdi Hemang, while welcome address was proposed by ARO Peren, Moses Newmai.
