Awareness Rally of school children on women empowerment in commemoration of the @250th Birth Anniversary of Raja Rammohun Roy, "The Father of Modern India", organized by District Cultural Office, Kohima Art & Culture Department, Nagaland on 22nd June 2022 at Town hall Tseminyu, with SDO (Civil) Tseminyu, Tsutsowe Kupa NCS as special guest.
Kupa said Raja Rammohun Roy was a strong proponent of women's rights and education. His effort led to the abolition of the Sati system. He said women empowerment doesn’t mean the movement is opposed to men, rather it's empowering women mentally, emotionally, etc. He encouraged students to see their inner talent as they all can reason and rationalize things. He said women's sex ratio of Tseminyu is 1022, the male literacy rate is 88% and the female is 76%. Education makes us think critically, and the ability to reason, education means to release creative energy and make us better citizens, he said.
Assistant Research Officer and District Cultural Office, Kohima in-charge, Haichenlo Kath gave the welcome address where he said due to ongoing summer break many students couldn’t turn up, around 100 (hundred) students participated, and the programme was chaired by Keviselie UDA District Art & Culture Office, Kohima, Nagaland.
