B.L. Verma, Union Minister of state, DoNER & Co-operation, Government of India, graced the inauguration function of the 3rd Mon International Trade Fair & Expo 2023 as Guest of Honour on 25th March 2023 at Local Ground, Mon Town. He was accompanied by K. Konngam, Advisor Treasuries & Accounts, Art & Culture, Govt. of Nagaland, Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Anuradha S. Chagti, Joint Secretary, N. Simte, Under Secretary, DoNER, Sekhar Dey, APS and Alok Rai, PA to Union Minister.

People of Mon Town and Mon District warmly welcomed the Guest of Honour with their Traditional Attires. The minister said he was highly impressed to see the rich culture of Konyak tribe and added that under the abled leadership of the Prime Minister, Ministry of DoNER, Government of India, will try to extend maximum possible support for the inclusive development of the remotest places like Mon.

While delivering welcome address, Deputy Commissioner, Mon, extend heartfelt gratitute to the Union Minister and his team. He also thanked to all the participants, Government officials, civil society leaders and all the invitees present. Further, he informed that this 15-day event will be concluding on 8th April 2023, wherein, various programmes and performances from renowned artists, singers, bands and other performers will mark the event. It will provide an outstanding platform to talents, artisans, SHGs and other participants from all walks of life.

Konyak Union President thanked the Union Minister and his team for gracing the occasion and also expressed gratitude to District Administration led by DC, Mon for taking such a wonderful initiative to promote local products, brands along with cultural and traditional development. He assured to extend full support to organizers.

Other items included cultural performances by Leangha Village Cultural Troupe, Chi Sheko Khong Mon Town, Mon Chamber Choir, traditional Song by KNSK, Bihu Dance from Assam, Cultural Dance by KNSK, A patriotic Song by Atzing Konyak. Vote of thanks was proposed by H. Berimong NCS, SDO (C) HQ.
