“Today, 1 sample is tested positive for COVID-19. The total number of positive cases in the State now stands at 128. Out of this, the total active cases are 106 and 22 persons have recovered. All the positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 Hospitals.

A total of 223 samples have been tested by Truenat and out of which 189 samples have tested negative and result of 34 samples are awaited.

As per the severity of symptoms, out of 106 active cases, there are 106 asymptomatic cases and 22 have recovered after treatment from the COVID Hospital.

Till date, a total of 4969 samples have been tested. Results of 3791 samples have been received and the rest are awaited.

A total 6709 persons are presently under Facility Quarantine 7879 persons under Home Quarantine.

A review meeting of the High Powered Committee (HPC) on COVID-19 was held today under the Chairmanship of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Nagaland with the Co-Chairman, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister along with Members, the Hon’ble Minister, Health & FW, Hon’ble Minister, Planning, LR & Parliamentary Affairs, Hon’ble Advisor, IT & ST and NRE and senior officials of the State Government. The meeting was also attended by the Hon’ble Minister, Agriculture & Cooperation, Hon’ble Minister, Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Justice & Law, Hon’ble Minister, Public Health Engineering Department and Hon’ble Minister, PWD (Housing & Mechanical).

The HPC deliberated the issue of stranded people who were working outside and have returned to the State due to the on-going pandemic, and the Department of Labour & Employment has been asked to register all such people themselves with the Government with full details, so that appropriate training and skill development programmes could be run for them to help them get gainfully employed.

The Commissioner & Secretary Labour & Employment informed that the Department is working with the IT Department to come out with an App where the returnees can registers themselves along with their skill set and work experience. The data collected will be used by the Government to work on an action plan to utilise the available human resources in the State.  

The HPC discussed about the mechanisms that should be put in place so people of the State who are planning to return to the other States for employment get themselves registered with the Government of Nagaland and update their place of employment and other details. This is required so that the State Government is in a position to quickly reach out to anyone outside, who is in distress and provide assistance and other kind of help, should any such need arises in future.

The Principal Director, Health & Family Welfare gave a briefing of the COVID-19 status in the State and it was informed that the testing capacity of the BSL 3 lab in Kohima was increasing steadily and in the BSL 2 Lab in Dimapur about 90% of work has been completed. He further apprised that work for the BSL 2 Lab in Tuensang is in progress and within this month all the Districts in Nagaland will have testing facilities. The Principal Director, Health & Family Welfare also informed that 45 numbers of ventilators have been dispatched by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India for Nagaland and is expected to arrive soon.

The Principal Secretary, Home apprised the HPC about the provisions of the SOPs for the returnees to the State and the measures being taken for facilitating the District Task Forces and ensuring that there is complete adherence to the concerned SOPs were deliberated upon.

The Principal Director, School Education apprised the HPC about the applications received for One Time Assistance of Rs. 10,000 by the State Government to those staying outside and voluntarily opting to stay back. He informed that after proper verification it was found that only 15,899 persons were eligible for this scheme and a total of Rs. 15,89,90,000/- has been incurred for this purpose.

The matter pertaining to engineers, technical experts, skilled labourers etc.  from outside the State, who are required to come to the State from time to time, to perform specialized and essential works in the power, telecom and other vital installations for short duration was deliberated upon. It was decided that the Home Department will examine and come out with a separate SOP for such categories of people whose entry in the State is unavoidable for short durations. There could be provisions made in the SOP for testing such people by Truenat machines on their entry, and on negative results, they could be allowed  to proceed for work, while following all the social distancing norms.

It has also been decided in the meeting to run a Special Train from Delhi to Dimapur on the 14th of June 2020 to bring stranded citizens of Nagaland.

The status on the existing lockdown measures in the State was discussed, and all the activities which have been allowed so far by the Government of India were also deliberated upon. The HPC decided for allowing for opening of religious places in the State subject to adherence to the provisions of SOP issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GOI. It was decided that the relevant Orders in this regard should mention all the conditions/provisions that need to be followed at the religious places.
