In a significant development, the first batch of spices from the Peren district was delivered to Mumbai based company under the initiatives of district administration Peren. Two loads of cardamom were dispatched as a pilot project last month. This was done as a demonstration exercise for farmers and FPOs about the availability of abundant avenues for the spices market outside the state. The effort is to make it sustainable by promoting local entrepreneurs who can take up this project. It is expected that farmers of the district come forward and utilize the established market linkage to realize better prices and income.
