A programme for the celebration of Anna Yojana & Public Distribution System (PDS), covering the PMGKAY scheme and as part of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' was held at Zunheboto district on 22nd April 2022 with Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali (IAS) as the special guest.
DC, while delivering his speech, said it was a day of great joy because the day celebrates the most important scheme of the government and the most joyful one, as the scheme works as the best mechanism to provide aid, benefitting the poorest in the entire country at times of immense hardship of the Covid-19 pandemic. Rahul mentioned that the central government under the dynamic leadership of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi could counter the hazardous effects of the pandemic with different policies and it acted as a relief to various wounds.
Assistant Director of Food & Civil supplies, Zunheboto, Kiyevi I.Swu, while giving a brief report on PMGKAY, said that the scheme which was earlier initiated on a phased basis of four months began on April 2020 and continued till date, with the 6th phase ending on September 2022.
He also mentioned that the celebration would go on in other districts of the state as well, during the entire month of April.
During the beneficiaries' testimonials, a differently-abled man, Xuniho Yeptho, and a woman beneficiary, Khevili Awomi thanked the Government and the department of F&CS for acting to the needs of the poor in times of crisis.
They added that money was not the only important factor during the difficult time of the pandemic, and the supplies from the government helped tremendously, and that too for free to the needy.
President of urban GBs, Shiwoto Zhimo appealed to the FPSs to continue the good work and judiciously implement the policies of the government.
Earlier the celebration programme, organized by the Department of Food & Civil Supplies, Zunheboto, was chaired by Senior Inspector F&CS, Sashilemla Pongen, and a vote of thanks was delivered by Inspector F&CS, Alovito Yepthomi.
