Under the umbrella 'Ujjwal Bharat, Ujjwal Bhavishya' power@2047- 'Bijlee Mahotsav' was celebrated on 28th July 2022 at Council Hall, Toluvi Village, Dimapur.

MLA & Advisor, Department of Power, H. Tovihoto Ayemi said India is progressing under the initiative of PM Narendra Modi. He stated that this scheme has immensely benefitted Nagaland with the rest of the N.E and the Nation. He highlighted the achievement of the three major schemes initiated by the GoI.

Ayemi, speaking on the State Power Scenario, stated that from 2021-22, due to shortages of resources, restricted peak demand stood at 184 MW and off-peak demand at 141 MW. With demand exponentially increasing year by year, the projected Power requirement by 2025 stood at 550 MW. He also mentioned that the gap between Power Purchase and Revenue Receipt is one major challenge faced by the Government. He added that to ensure a stable and quality power supply in the district, each individual or consumer to practice judicious use of power and conserve energy. This will not only help to better our environment but also increase the life span of electrical equipment ensuring uninterrupted power supply to our homes/offices/schools etc, he said.

Ayemi appealed to the consumers to pay their dues on time, only then there will be no disruption or problem in power. He said that the power department has been doing its best to reach every household and it's the moral responsibility of the citizens to do their part.

DC, Dimapur, Sachin Jaiswal requested the citizens to take a pledge to be responsible and co-operate with the Government. He said that the power sector in the State and Country will only develop if citizens use power judiciously and pay their dues on time.

The programme was chaired by EAC Dimapur, Nukshimatong. Invocation pronounced by pastor TGBA, V. Atoshe Awomi. Address by NEEPCO Limited, District Nodal Officer, Er. Zachamo Ovung. While, a vote of thanks was delivered by Chairman Toluvi Village Council, Bohoshe Awomi.

As part of the event, various activities were conducted- A short film presentation by Universal Household Electrification (REC), Village Electrification (REC), and Distribution System Strengthening (PFC) and testimonials on the electrification scheme.
