Celebrating the 'Bijli Mahotsav & Ujjala Divas' was held at Kidima village on 27th July 2022.
Advisor for Youth Resources & Sports, Er. Zale Neikha said the village of Kidima and Mezoma were selected based on best performing villages with high applicants for the Bijli scheme and beneficiaries.
Zale said that the Ministry of Power, Government of India has organized the mega event to highlight the key achievements of the power sector in the state and the central government across India. He said the mega event was introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi where 683 villages have been selected across India based on works of different beneficiaries and bijli schemes. The selected villages will be evaluated to 100 villages among the best working model villages. Further, the 100 villages will be re-evaluated down to 5 villages and the final 5 villages will have the privilege to have a video conference with the Prime Minister on the 30th of July 2022 to gain much-needed knowledge and awareness to take full advantage of the schemes, he added.
Zale also highlighted various schemes introduced by the Ministry of Power in Kohima such as Saubhagya, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY), and Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS), and Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (KUSUM).
Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Shanavas C IAS congratulated the power department and stakeholders. Pointing out that there are many power defaulters in the state, Shanavas said that if every village shows the importance of being responsible considering the importance and benefits of electricity, and avoids being defaulters then Nagaland will become a responsible state.
The highlight of the key achievements of the power sector was given by NEEPCO Ltd. District Nodal Officer, Er. John Zeliang.
Others who also spoke on the occasion included the Chairman of Kidima Village Council and a testimonial on electrification schemes was shared by the Head GB of Kidima village.
To mark the celebration, display of films on various programs/ schemes, nukkad natak by Mezoma Student Union, and a cultural item presentation by women's society Kidima were conducted to spread awareness of the benefits of electricity.
Er. Ruokongutuo Suohu, EE Kohima Electrical Division chaired the program while Videse Pucho invoked God's blessing, and a vote of thanks was proposed by EAC Kezocha, Kelengunuo. The program concluded with a benediction offered by Kehochel Kintso, Home Visiting Pastor Baptist Church Kohima.
