Kohima district celebrated 'Bijli Mahotsav & Ujjala Divas' at Mezoma village on 26th July 2022. 

Speaking as the guest of honour, the MLA & Chairman DPDB Kohima, Keneizhakho Nakhro said that with the Prime Minister's concern for the rural populace to get each household electrified, various schemes under the power sector have been implemented in the state to achieve its vision. He thanked the Central government for providing various schemes under the power sector and also the state government for implementing the vision of the Prime Minister. Nakhro also stressed the important role of being a responsible consumer by clearing the power bills in time to have an uninterrupted power supply. He further highlighted the benefits of electricity and other various government schemes being implemented in the district for overall development. 

Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Shanavas C IAS in his short speech said that two villages Mezoma and Kidima have been selected in the Kohima district for the celebration. While highlighting the benefits of electricity and how the quality of life improved with access to power, he called upon the gathering to introspect the purpose of the celebration and to take forward the message for a better future.

As part of the event, testimonials on electrification schemes were shared by the beneficiaries, screening of films on various programs/ schemes, nukkad natak by the Mezoma Student's Union, and cultural presentations by Mezoma youth were held to spread awareness on the benefits of electricity.

Mezoma Village Council Chairman, Viseyieca Chusi also spoke on the occasion. The program was chaired by Er. Ruokongutuo Suohu EE Kohima Electrical Division, invocation by Rev. Visakuolie Chusi Pastor Mezoma Baptist Church, vote of thanks by Tiayanger Jamir SDO (C) Sechü-Zubza.
