A Central Team from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (PH Division) visited Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) on 14th December 2020 to assist State Health Department in review of public health measures and clinical management for COVID-19.
The Team included Sanjay Kumar, AS & FA, Ministry of Road Transport & Highway (Nodal Officer); Dr. S. R. Karmakar, Sr. Public Health, Kolkata and Dr. Mohd. Jamil, Assoc. Prof. Medicine, North Eastern Indira Gandhi Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRHIMS)
The team reviewed overall COVID related activities in regard to containment, surveillance, testing, infection prevention and control measures, clinical management protocol for Covid-19 in the district.
On their visit at NHAK, the Managing Director, Dr. Thorsie Katiry gave a powerpoint presentation on status of Covid activities at NHAK from 23rd March 2020 till date. He informed that the NHAK has collected a total sample of 24806, which included 17308 from BSL3 and 7498 from Truenat as on 13th December 2020. Out of 24806 sample collected, a total of 2759 were detected as positive cases while 21925 were Negative cases and 122 are awaited. Positive cases admitted in NHAK was 339 where 263 were discharged, 21 deaths and 43 were shifted to Meriema COVID Care Centre (MCCC), other Hospital and Home Isolation.
Dr. Thorsie also informed on the NHAK COVID-19 Ward arrangements where he stated that NHAK has three wards, which included Transition Ward, COVID-19 Isolation Ward and COVID-19 ICU. He further highlighted on the status report of COVID-19 NHAK in regard to availability of beds, status of confirmed cases in Covid Hospital and Clinical status of current cases.
Dr. Aseno DSO Kohima also presented on the overall COVID 19 testing status of Kohima District, which included BSL3 Lab, RT-PCR, NHAK Truenat, Private Hospitals, CMO Office and BSF where she informed that a total of 34,607 were tested, out of which 3,615 were tested positive and 29,998 were Negative as on 11th December 2020.
Out of 3615 positive cases in the district, Dr. Aseno informed that 778 were detected from Army/Security Forces, 489 returnees, 172 frontline workers, 130 home makers, 398 students, 22 taxi drivers, 166 unemployed, 272 children, 7 pregnant mothers and 1181 working population/persons. She also highlighted on various Covid related activities carried out at quarantine centres, checkgates and CMO Mobile Team in the district.
