Nagaland's Chief Secretary, J. Alam IAS, presided over a comprehensive review meeting concerning the "Mera Mati Mera Desh" campaign. The meeting took place at the Chief Secretary's Conference Hall in Kohima on August 8, 2023. The campaign has been organized as a culmination of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' to honor the sacrifices of brave individuals who gave their lives for the nation.

Chief Secretary Alam emphasized the significance of active participation from citizens across the state in the campaign. He directed District Administrations to seek cooperation and assistance from the public while ensuring proper documentation of events. In addition, he held discussions with all District Commissioners (DCs) present at the meeting, reviewing the preparations made in their respective districts.

Alam underscored the importance of adhering to directives issued by the Central Government to ensure the smooth and successful execution of the campaign in the state. The meeting was conducted in a hybrid mode, with participation from relevant department officials and all DCs across the state.

The 'Mera Mati Mera Desh' campaign includes various activities, such as erecting memorials in villages and towns to pay tribute to the fallen heroes, hoisting of national flags, taking pledges while holding a fistful of soil, and planting 75 saplings of indigenous trees. Youth volunteers will collect soil from various locations to be transported to Kartavya Path, New Delhi, where the final event will be held. Village-level programs are scheduled from August 9 to 15, block-level and larger urban local bodies (ULBs) between August 16 and 20, state-level programs by August 25, 2023, and the finale in New Delhi on August 29 or 30, 2023.
