Chief Secretary, J. Alam IAS flagged off the Block Level Mini Soil Testing Laboratories at a function held at the Secretariat Plaza, Kohima on 26th Jan 2022. A sample has been set up at DSCO office Kohima including Static Soil Testing Laboratory (STL) Fertilizer Quality Control Laboratory (FQCL) and Bio Organic Quality Control Laboratory.     

The Soil Health Management Scheme is a flagship scheme of the union government monitored directly by the Prime Minister’s office.

Chief Secretary, J. Alam said it is a historic milestone for the state in general and the department in particular as we are inaugurating three laboratories: He added that soil health is a technical issue and mentioned that 60% of the total population are completely dependent directly in Agri- Allied sector for which the department has a huge responsibility for the upliftment of the people. He urged the gathering to take care of the facilities provided by the Government.

A brief technical report was given by State Nodal Officer SHM K. Khekiho Shohe. He said that under this scheme the department has till date established 14 Static Soil Testing Laboratories covering all districts including 1 (one) at S&WC Training and Research Centre
