In pursuance of Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, and as part of the ongoing capacity-building efforts, a training session for all BLOs under 4 Ghaspani -I & 5 Ghaspani -II was held on 15th July, 2025 at Conference Hall, Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Chumoukedima.
DC, Chumoukedima, Polan John, NCS, in his brief note stated that this intensive summary revision is very important, to ensure that the preparation of electoral rolls and elections are conducted strictly in accordance with the Election Commission of India (ECI). He stated that everyone talks about clean election process but it is through such intensive summary revision that will bring forth clean and clear e- rolls. He requested all BLOs, ERO, Supervisor, AERO to take it seriously whatever assignment is given, and as they are put on deputation to the election commission of India as far as election related is concern.
He informed that there are some new features that ECI has come up with and for which two BLOs from Ghaspani l and Ghaspani-ll were selected and were sent to Delhi for training. He appealed all the BLOs to be sincere, as this training session is going to help them when they carry out their work on the ground. Further, he requested for house to house visits and make sure all the details of the voters are correct and every eligible voters is enrolled.
ADC & ERO, Chumoukedima, Kuzonyi Wideo, in his address welcomed all the BLOs and highlighted that, as per the brochure received from the ECI, there has been many modifications in the forms and apps which will be updated during the training. He also informed that the BLOs has put up an issue for bifurcation of polling station but as directives from the ECI and CEO office, only specific polling station will be selected for bifurcation i.e., only if the voters are more than 1200. He also informed that for RO components, if a person is beyond 2 km radius, their polling station should be separated but that justification has still not been received from the ECI. If such directives are received, they will try to work it out, he informed.
Further, he mentioned that soon after the Capacity building training, house to house verification and pre revision activities will be conducted. Hence, requested all BLOs, to be attentive throughout the training, to keep up with the modifications in the forms and application.
All Booth Level Officers under 4 Ghaspani-I and 5 Ghaspani-II, AERO Medzhiphema, Niuland, and Chümoukedima, attended the training program.
During the training session, the topics highlighted were Constitutional provisions, Statutory provisions, and appointment of BLOs; Duties of BLO in Special Intensive Revision (SIR); Booth Awareness Group (BAG), Nazari Map; formation of groups & Role play, distribution of forms, and house-to-house Enumeration. The training session topics were presented by Ketoulhounuo Thakro and Nikavi Chishi.
