The Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Wokha Ajit Kumar Ranjan IAS, calls for a coordination meeting with the leaders of Wokha Village and Longsa village on 14th February 2023 at Deputy Commissioner Conference Hall, Wokha.
The meeting was attended by Superintendent of Police, Wokha Aotula T Imchen IPS, village council chairman accompanied by all the GBs and Council Secretaries attended the meeting.
Addressing the leaders of the two villages, DC lauded the support and cooperation the two villages have shown during the past and also appealed to extend the same cooperation in the coming days as well to ensure that a peaceful atmosphere prevails in the district and for the smooth conduct of the election.
Deputy Commissioner also informed that 144 CrPc is already in force and urged the leaders of the two villages to educate the public to be aware of the enforcement and also sensitize regarding forming of youths camps within their areas as these are a violation of the Election Model Code of Conduct, and also reminded them that holding public rallies, processions and public meeting is restricted within the town and asked to obtain approval/ permission from the DEO for the same.
The DC further added that District Administration and Police have full faith in the leaders of the two villages and appealed to them to shoulder their role and responsibilities and educate the citizens not to involve in any election-related violence to ensure peace and tranquillity within the district.
Superintendent of Police, Wokha Aotula T Imchen IPS, who also spoke during the meeting, said the prestige and image of the district lie upon the leaders of the two villages and urged them to take up their roles and responsibilities in the right manner and appealed the village leaders to work and maintain neutrality leaving aside party lines to ensure a peaceful atmosphere.
Imchen also said neutrality of the District Administration and Police is assured to ensure free, fair, peaceful, and smooth conduct of the election. She appealed to the citizens to avoid circulating fake news on social media and other news platforms without ascertaining the fact of events as it has the tendency of creating law and order problems and situations.
Speaking during the meeting, the village council chairman of Longsa and Wokha village assured to abide by the direction of the District Administration and Law Enforcement agencies and extend all possible support and cooperation and work together in co-ordination to ensure a peaceful atmosphere prevails and for the smooth conduct of the forthcoming election.
