The COTPA flying squad led by its team leader, Officer-in-charge (O/C) Wokha, L. Chenithung Kikon along with the staff of National Tobacco Programme (NTCP), Dobashis from District Administration, Women Police personnel Wokha, conducted enforcement raid/drive selling tobacco products near educational institutions on 30th March 2022.

The squad penalized 13 (thirteen) defaulters and seized tobacco products from the shops falling within the restricted areas, the defaulters were penalized with a fine of Rs. 200/- (two hundred). The team will be frequently conducting such kinds of a raid in the coming days also.

Further, shopkeepers were directed to abide COTPA Act and warned that necessary legal action shall be initiated as per the provision of the Law. The seized tobacco products were destroyed the same day at Police Station Wokha premises in presence of all the flying squad members.
