The COTPA flying squad team led by Thungchio Ngullie SI, PS Wokha along with the staff of the National Tobacco Programme (NTCP), Dobashis (DBs) from District Administrative, Women Police personnel Wokha, conducted an enforcement drive/raid on selling tobacco products near educational institutions on 9th May 2023.

During the raid the team penalized 9 (nine) defaulters (Under COTPA Sec6a and 6b) for selling tobacco products and seized the tobacco products from the shops falling within the restricted areas, the defaulters were penalized (Violators Under COTPA Sec 6b) with a fine of Rs. 200/- (two hundred). The team will be frequently conducting such kinds of raids in the coming days also. Further shopkeepers were directed to abide by the COTPA Act, and warned that necessary legal action shall be initiated as per the provision of the Law.

The seized tobacco products were destroyed the same day at Police Station Wokha premises in the presence of all the flying squad members.
