Deputy Commissioner Dimapur Anoop Kinchi IAS activated the 93 bedded COVID CARE CENTER at Chumukedima Dimapur today 22nd June 2020 in the presence of Commissioner Police Dimapur Rothihu Tetseo IPS, CMO Dimapur Dr. Tiasunep Pongener, MS District Hospital Dimapur Dr. Kheshito Zhimomi and Director CISHR Dr. Sedevi Angami.

The Health and Family Welfare Training located at Chumukedima has been converted into COVID care center and CISHR in collaboration with the Health & Family Welfare department will be taking care of the Center.

Deputy Commissioner Dimapur in his address, cited that the COVID care center Chumukedima will be a place between Hospital and Quarantine center. While mentioning about the high recovery rate in Nagaland, with more than 66%, Anoop thanked God and also acknowledged the selfless sacrifices of the Medical staff and policemen. Government and private doctors are working day and night taking care of all the 67 Quarantine centers and I salute them, Anoop maintained. He further said that the policemen and the officers, employees from various departments including those working at Agri expo are rendering tireless services in the fight against the pandemic and noted that Dimapur has been doing fine thus far as all are working with unity and co-operation.

CP Dimapur, felt that Government employees posted at Dimapur were fortunate stating that working together in the fight against COVID 19 pandemic was an opportunity for contributing something towards the society. Let all continue to work together, Tetseo appealed.

MS Dimapur, Dr. Kheshito Zhimomi, observed that besides COVID cases, problems of normal patients with other ailments needs to be addressed as the only Government set up has been working for the past 3 months day and night for COVID cases. Further, he noted that presently all positive cases are young people but felt that if community transmission starts it will affect all people irrespective of age and people with morbidity will be vulnerable and therefore Dr. Kheshito felt the need for preparing / arranging more hospitals.

Director CISHR, Dr. Sedevi said that it was an opportunity to work in partnership with the Government and felt that such initiatives could continue even in future. Diseases are not Government or Private but has to be joint responsibility of all, Dr. Sedevi said. He also cautioned that Community transmission could not be stopped, and noted that COVID cases may be silent, mild or serious cases and advised all to continue to be prepared. Further, Dr. Sedevi advised all to take extra care of the elderly people, community mass campaigning, distribution of educative pamphlets and also spelled on the need for decentralising testing at this point of time. He also reminded about the important role of media for disseminating reliable informations and for helping the community to respond better.

CMO Dimapur delivered the welcome note while Pastor, Town Baptist Church Chumukedima, Rev. Sazo Kire offered word of prayer.
