Chief Secretary & Chairman, State Level Co-ordination Committee (SLCC) on 7th Economic Census, J. Alam, IAS convened a meeting to examine the provisional report of the 7th Economic Census at Chief Secretary's Conference Hall, Secretariat, Kohima on 30th October 2021.
Additional Director & HOD, Department of Economics & Statistics, Neidilhou Angami during the meeting highlighted on the 7th Economic Census, which he stated has been conducted to enumerate all the establishments and entrepreneur units located in a geographical area, and which are involved in any economic activities, including household enterprises, engaged in production or distribution of goods and services in non-farm agriculture sectors, with the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (SPI) as the nodal department at the ministry level.
Neidilhou briefed on the process and manpower involved in conducting the Economic Census. He stated that in Nagaland, the 7th Economic Census was launched in August 2019 and completed in April 2021. The Community Service Centres (CSC), e-Governance Service India Ltd., a platform of Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, has been selected as the implementing agency by the Ministry of SPI for developing the ICT platform system and also to conduct field work for the Economic Census.
For enumerators and supervisors, the CSC recruited enumerators for data collection for the whole district, and at the supervisor level there were two levels. The 1st supervisor level was employed by the CSC and at the 2nd supervisor level, it consisted of officials from the Economics & Statistics Department and also officials from the National Sample Survey Office, Ministry of SPI, to verify 10% of the data that was enumerated.
The Chief Secretary called for another meeting of the SLCC on 7th Economic Census to be convened. The meeting was attended by the members of the SLCC on 7th Economic Census.
