The 20th Cultural Day cum Sühkrühnyie of the Phüsachodümi Youth Society was held at Phüsachodü village, Phek on 25th January 2022 with Advisor to Chief Minister, Abu Metha as the special guest.
Metha called upon the gathering to use technology for transparency and strengthen the foundation of education. He also urged, specially the youth, to use social media responsibly. He stressed on meritocracy so that the society can move forward, adding that students will work harder. Citing the example of Chekrovolu Swüro, he said the youth are doing well despite the limited resources.
Metha said that tourism is one of the biggest industries and stressed on popularizing “Experiential Tourism” to strengthen the State’s economy. On 'Phüsachodü Village Walk', he hoped that it will bring the village not only in the Nagaland tourism map but beyond.
Honour Guest of the event, Advisor, TaFMA, Theja Meru, urged the youth to aim high and work hard. He asked them to be organised and have a sense of competition in all their activities. He encouraged the gathering to connect well with the outside world to bring the world at the doorsteps. Meru stated that we cannot be left behind, but must emerge as winners.
Speaking as an Honour Guest, Director of Tourism, Ajanuo Belho, encouraged the gathering to keep alive and preserve the rich and unique identity of the Nagas. She stated that with the launch of the Village Walk, it will promote rural tourism.
MLA, Dr Chotisüh Sazo said that with tourists coming into the village, the youth can make use of the opportunity by engaging in various tourist related activities. He stated that the idea was to showcase the traditional village life and attract tourists through rural eco-tourism activities. He said that with the launch of the Village Walk, employment opportunities will be generated and the rural economy will also improve.
The event also saw various competitions such as traditional folk songs and dances.
