District Agriculture Office, Kohima conducted a rabi seeds distribution program under National Food Security Mission at the office premises with Chairman, Nagaland Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, Government of Nagaland, Dr. Kekhrie Yhome as the special guest on the 27th of October 2021.
The special guest in his keynote address stressed on the importance of achieving food security and preservation of traditional varieties. He encouraged the farmers to adopt new innovations coupled with indigenous traditional knowledge and grow more food for attaining economic stability. He also stressed on going back to the soil and encouraged the youngsters and educated youths to take up farming as a way of life.
DAO, Neikhotuonuo in her introductory address dwelled on the National Food Security Mission initiated by the Government of India and encouraged farmers to work hand in hand with the department for achieving economic stability and food security. The farmers thanked the department for the technical guidance, assistance received in terms of seeds, tools as well as financial support and encouraging womenfolk through Self Help Groups. The programme was chaired by Agriculture Officer, Kevizhalhou Kuotsu and concluded with vote of thanks from Deputy DAO Kohima, Kekhrieletuo Yhome.
