Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Kohima Mohammed Ali Shihab A IAS has informed all concerned that under Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, in the period of 48 hours ending with the hour fixed for the close of poll, no campaign can be carried out.

In view of the fact that after the closure of campaign period no campaign can take place, the Election Commission of India vide letter NO. 462/INST/2007-PLN-I dated 8th January, 2017, has directed that no political functionaries/ party workers/procession functionaries/campaign functionaries etc. from outside the constituency and who are not voters of the constituency shall remain in the constituency after the campaign period is over.

Accordingly, DC has informed all concerned to take note of the restrictions and ensure that no political functionaries/ party workers/ procession functionaries/ campaign functionaries etc. from outside the constituency and who are not voters of the constituency shall remain in the constituency from 4:00 PM of 1st Nov., 2020 till the election is over.
