Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie, NCS has directed all the District Administrative Officers under Kohima district to disseminate the information on any resistance/ refusal to test by known contacts of Covid-19 cases may henceforth be deemed to have violated the 'Nagaland Epidemic Disease(COVID-19) Regulations 2020' and booked under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.

DC and Chairman DTF Kohima stated  that the testing for Covid-19 has been on a substantial decrease in the past few weeks in Kohima district owing to resistance of people to come forward for Covid-19 testing, which he said could be due to fear of stigmatization or general resistance to get diagnosed. He however stated the fact remains that early testing/ detection and isolation is one of the best tool to break the chain of infection and early testing and detection will be highly beneficial in reducing the mortality due to Covid-19. Moreover, the Total Lockdown which the State Government has imposed will bear full dividends only if we supplement it with increased testing, he informed.
