Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, chaired the District Level Review Committee meeting on the PM POSHAN Scheme and Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan at his office chamber on July 14, 2026.
In his welcome address, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised the need for effective coordination among all departments to ensure smooth implementation of the schemes and timely resolution of issues.
Reviewing the PM POSHAN Scheme, the meeting appreciated the timely supply of foodgrains but noted concerns over inconsistencies in quantity and occasional quality issues. It was decided that school representatives should be present during the distribution process to ensure the correct quantity is received.
The meeting also reviewed the implementation of health interventions under the scheme, including iron and folic acid supplementation, deworming and school health screening, which are being carried out across schools in the district.
Under Samagra Shiksha, the meeting reviewed the progress of hostel construction under PM JANMAN and DAJGUA, and noted that no hostel has been taken up under PM JANMAN in the district so far.
On APAAR ID generation, the district has achieved 56 per cent saturation with 21,949 IDs generated. Challenges such as Aadhaar mismatch, shortage of functional computers in government schools and difficulties in Aadhaar enrolment were discussed. The meeting also reviewed measures to improve coverage, including awareness campaigns and decentralisation of the authorisation process.
The meeting further reviewed the solarisation of government schools and Aadhaar updates, and discussed steps to strengthen implementation of both initiatives.
