The Deputy Commissioner Longleng has informed all concerned that some village and ward authorities are imposing unwarranted rules deviant from the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) causing unnecessary harassment to the healthcare workers and other frontline workers. 

Commission of such acts is an offence under section 51 "Obstruction to perform duty" of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the Epidemic Diseases (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020 'Protection of healthcare service personnel' and also section 188 of the Indian Penal Court, 1860. 

Therefore, all village and ward authorities are directed to refrain from imposing such unwarranted rules which will cause harassment to the COVID-19 frontline workers.
