Deputy Commissioner, Noklak, Hiazu Meru released a book titled “Footprints” authored by Pongom Lam on 13th November 2021 at White Hall, Noklak Village.

Speaking on the occasion, Meru stated that, our history is based on oral tradition which has been passed down from generation to generation, but now the need for written record is very much relevant in the current generation.

While appreciating the author, the DC encouraged to use the talent and the creativity for the benefit of all and wished him success in life. He also expressed appreciation to the author for taking a bold step in the field of writing which is very much encouraging particularly in a time when the world is flooded with technology. Hiazu Meru urged the gathering to pick up the habit of reading and to be ready to learn new things in life.

In his author's talk, Pongom Lam thanked his parents, friends for their continuous support. He also highlighted on the content of the book. Lam cited that, 'Footprints' is about life and living. He mentioned that, the themes of the poems are simple, straight forward and universal in appeal. The write-up brings things back to the self, back to thoughts, emotions, and actions, whilst still acknowledge the world as it is without any whitewash, Pongom Lam stated.

Vice President, Khiamniungan Students Union, Hime Lam and President, Thang Students Union, Pushou also spoke on the occasion. Meanwhile, opening remarked was delivered by PGT, GHSS Noklak, T.Muchu while words of gratitude was delivered by Vice President ENCSU, Shou.

Pongom Lam holds a degree in Bachelor of Arts (History Honour) from St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama and Master’s degree from IGNOU. He is best known for short poems and his area of interest includes Nature, Humanity, Modern form of poetry etc. He has published, ' The Hardship of Life' 2017, followed by 'Being on Time' 2018 and the latest is 'Footprint' 2021. Some of his awards are 'poem of the year 2019 by North East Featured Poetry Award: Vocal for Local by North East 2021 in two categories Poem of the Year' (Elegy) and Poem of year (Sonnet).
