Mon District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) held its meeting on 16th February, 2021 at the Conference Room of the Office of DC Mon under the chairmanship of DC Mon Thavaseelan K, IAS. The meeting started with a brief moment of silence in honour of the recently departed Late ADC, Tobu Mudongoyi Chuzho, NCS.
The agenda for the meeting included the development of public parks in all District HQ in Nagaland and shortage of Mathematics and Science teacher in GHSS, Mon. With regard to development of public park in Mon, KNSK representative suggested the board to earmark Fishery area Mon for the park. The board decided to hold a meeting with all the NGOs and Tribal Hohos at the earliest to identify a suitable spot for the park. With regard to the shortage of teachers at GHSS Mon, the board assured the school representatives that the matter would be forwarded to the Principal Director School Education Department with immediate urgency.
SDO PHED Mon, Atoka Jakha gave a power point presentation on the activities undertaken by the PHED Department Mon including two NLCPR projects:
- Providing water supply to Mon and four neighboring villages. The status of the project stands at 100% completed for civil structure and 15% for pipelines.
- Providing water supply to Aboi Hq and Longching EAC Hq. The status of this project stands at 100% completed for civil structures and 70% for pipelines.
Atoka also highlighted the board about the Department's ongoing activities under Jal Jeevan Mission (2019-2020) funded projects which includes nine villages. Atoka also briefed the board about the present water supply in Mon town which stands at a capacity of 5.4 Lakh Litres per day drawn out from four sources. However, he pointed out that as per the national average, the town's required water supply stands at 23 lakh litres per day. In order to bridge the gap of demand and supply, Atoka highlighted that the Department has proposed for a fifth source of water supply which when completed will boost the supply from 5.4 lakh litres to approximately 19 lakh litres per day.
Assistant Urban Development Officer (AUDO), Y. Kunyangse also presented a power point presentation about the various activities undertaken by the Department of Urban Development. The activities include setting up of 15 Self Help Groups under National Urban Livelihood Mission, Employment of 24 male and 26 female through training, Sanction of collateral free loan of Rs. 10000 under PM SVANidhi to seven beneficiaries, Works under Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme (State Plan) which includes a sanctioned amount of Ten Lakh Rupees for Mon and Five Lakh Rupees for Tobu.
Kunyangse also highlighted about a project for the construction of Patient Attendant Lodge which is stalled due to land ownership issue. He made an appeal to all the board member and NGOs to put their minds together for a solution at the earliest since the project is a concerted effort for the welfare and benefit of the common people. Kunyangse also highlighted the board about the upgradation of four stretch of urban roads in Mon town at an overall estimate of 5.8 crores.
The board also deliberated about the top priorities of development for the District in order to send proposals through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
