DGP NAGALAND, LAUNCHES BOOKLET TITLED “CLINICAL MANAGEMENT PROTOCOL: COVID-19”

A programme for the distribution of COVID-19 medicines and supplement kits to all units under the Police Department in Nagaland and also launching of a booklet titled “Clinical Management Protocol: COVID-19” sponsored by NPRIS, PHQ was under taken by the Director General of Police, Nagaland, T. John Longkumer, IPS at Police Headquarter, Kohima on 30th July 2021.

Speaking on the occasion, T. John Longkumer, IPS said that the programme was successful due to the combined efforts of the senior officers of the Police Department who have looked for ways and means to deal with the COVID issues in all the units of the state and procuring medicines and supplement kits directly from the manufacturers from Delhi. The DGP mentioned that COVID-19 cases in the Police Department was 2338 out of which 2291 personnel recovered and 11 personnel were victims of COVID. He said that the recovery rate was excellent and gave credits to the Unit Commanders and senior officers who have instilled COVID SOPs and protocols in their Units to stop the spread of COVID in the barracks. He also added that the Police Department were the first department in the state to undertake vaccination drive apart from the medical department and appeal to all who are not vaccinated to be vaccinated which would be good for all to stop the spread.  

He also said that since COVID pandemic stared, the personnel of the department became the frontline workers to see that the law and order enforced in the state were followed, helping the people by setting up a 1000 bedded Quarantine Centre in Ganeshnagar and also creating a 100 bedded COVID Care Hospital at Chumukedima.

The programme was initiated to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the state and to ensure some basic precautions for personnel and families especially in far flung areas of the state, the department along with its welfare society viz., Nagaland Police Risk Insurance Scheme has initiated COVID Emergency Relief Fund from NPRIS and has sanctioned a sum of Rs. 35 Lakhs to the department for procurement of COVID-19 medicines and supplement kits with monetary assistance to units under Police Department, keeping in mind the health services of police personnel in general and families in particular.

The department has also come up with an idea to issue (in issuing) a guideline in the form of a booklet entitled "Clinical Management Protocol: COVID-19" for all units under Nagaland Police Department.

The programme was chaired by AIGP (Adm), Aaron Patton, NPS who also proposed the vote of thanks. Introductory remark was delivered by IPS IGP (Hqr), Kohima, S. Tokiumong Yimchunger.
