The Directorate of Information & Public Relations (DIPR) organized a two-day sensitization training on "News & Photo Reporting & PA System Coverage" on 27th August 2025, at the DIPR Conference Hall, Kohima.  

At the inaugural program, Advisor to the Chief Minister and Chairman, IDAN, Abu Metha in his speech highlighted the crucial role of IPR as a bridge between the State Government and the people. He emphasized the importance of accuracy in dissemination of information to the public and the need to prioritize factual reporting over speed. He said that the IPR department is expected to ensure that the citizens of the state are informed about all Government programs, schemes and initiatives. He also stressed on the responsibility of the department to build a positive image of the State while accurately informing the public.

Metha encouraged the officers and staff to view challenges faced in remote areas as a valuable life experience which will prepare them for future leadership roles within the Department. He urged the participants to be proactive in self-education, to utilize the internet and social media to enhance their knowledge and skills. While appreciating the impactful work done by the Department, He encouraged officials to increase its visibility, particularly on social media and to do more feature writing, videos and even write books and documentaries highlighting success stories to inspire the citizens of the State.

Joint Secretary, IPR, Kusa Fithu, extended her appreciation to the Director, IPR, Dzüvinuo Theünuo and Department officials for organizing this workshop. She stated that such training program is important for skill enhancement, productivity improvement and fostering camaraderie among the employees. She acknowledged about the technical and sensitive nature of the Department's work and urged all participants to utilize this opportunity for self-improvement to perform their tasks effectively and efficiently.

The inaugural program was chaired by Joint Director, IPR, I. Simon Teilia. Rtd. Director IPR, Limawati Ao, who was one of the speakers for Day-I, delivered a general appraisal on news reporting. Other speakers were Joint Director, IPR, Asangla Imsong, Deputy Directors S. Hongpi Konyak and Ruopfulenuo Houzha and APRO, Wepre Kronu.

The two-day programme aims to strengthen the professional abilities of DIPR staff in reporting, photography and technical coverage, ensuring that the department continues to serve as a reliable channel of communication between the government and the people.
