The Department of Economics & Statistics, Nagaland launched the Online Registration of Births and Deaths, Nagaland at its Directorate's Conference Hall, Kohima on 19th April 2022.

 

Director, Economic & Statistics, Nagaland, Neidilhou Angami while launching the online Application said the Department had desired to have the online application facility for a long time and the launching of the application was an achievement for the department, he congratulated the staff and officers of the Department for their efforts. He said the registration of births and deaths is being implemented through the Registration of Births and Deaths Act 1969 and Nagaland Correspondence Rule 1999 and to keep the pace of the ID regulation and on public demand, the office of the Registrar General of India has come up with the software to enable the people to obtain online certificates. The main objective of the software, he said was to facilitate and streamline the citizen service delivery system which has two purposes- to enable the public to apply and obtain death and birth certificates and to manage and record data.

The Director also highlighted that at present, two registrars are activated, one at the Directorate of Economics and Statistic, Nagaland, and the other at the district Economics and Statistic Office Kohima to have online registration of birth and death certificates, and the department in a phase-wise manner will also take up this facility in the coming days to all the district offices and all the 1465 registrars in the rural areas of the state. With the launching of the software application, he said, the general public and consumers will be able to have a covenant way to obtain birth and death certificates. 

A demo on how one can apply for online registration was also demonstrated during the programme by login in at crsorgi.gov.in.

The programme was chaired by Additional Director Economic & Statistics, Nagaland Neisatuo Puro.
