District Administration Mokokchung has issued an order on zero tolerance against the sale, transportation and storage of liquor, intensification of ongoing enforcement drive by enforcement agencies with due cooperation from Town/village/ward authorities and Civil Society Organizations in view of report of deaths and hospitalization due to suspected consumption of spurious liquor from Mangkolemba Sub-division and other parts of the district.

The decision was taken after the Mokokchung District Administration headed by Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma held an emergency coordination meeting on 26th Sept.2026 in the office of Deputy Commissioner with enforcement agencies, Ward authorities, Village councils, Civil Society Organizations and other relevant stakeholders.

As a precautionary measures, the public are advised to seek immediate medical attention at nearest primary medical unit if any individual after consumption of liquor especially within the last 48 hours experiences symptoms such as dizziness, blurred vision, difficulty in breathing, nausea, severe abdominal pain or loss of consciousness and also to report such instances to their nearest local authorities at the earliest.

The District Administration also appealed to all the stakeholders and the public in general to extend support and cooperation to Enforcement agencies to implement strict measures related to prohibition in the district.
