  The quarterly meeting of the District Level Coordination Committee on Tobacco Control Cell Kohima was held on 27th September 2022 at DC's Conference Hall Kohima.

Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Shanavas C, also the Chairman of DLCC, suggested that the members make solid action plans, finalize the time and date, and see that the follow-up actions are implemented. Controlling the misuse of Tobacco is a serious business that has to follow strict and correct measures and policies to bring change since it involves human lives. He encouraged the members to uphold the resolutions made.

To make the Tobacco Control Programme more effective, Shanavas said that more awareness programmes, publicity, and activities on the ill effects of Tobacco have to be made.

 Further in the meeting, it was decided to suggest to the School Education Department for inclusion of a Tobacco Control Topic in the NBSE syllabus. It was also decided no tobacco use pledge will be initiated starting in the next DPDB meeting. On the occasion, 10th NAP(IR) Bn. Cantonment, Zadima, St. John Bosco School, Khonoma, GMS Chedema, and Christian School, Chedema were awarded certificates for declaring Tobacco Free Zone.

  Earlier a Powerpoint on activities of District Tobacco Control Cell Kohima was presented by District Nodal Officer (NTCP), Kohima, Dr. Arenla Walking, and a Tobacco Free Declaration was initiated by Additional Director (Dental) State Nodal Officer (NTCP) Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima.

  The present data and status of a Tobacco Free till date is School 78 %, Colleges 12%, Village 13%, Teaching Institutes 2%, Orphanage & Rehabilitation Centre,1+2%, Dental clinic 32%, Hospitals/Clinic/Nursing Homes 7% and Police Stations 12%.
