On August 24, 2023, the Kohima District Level Stakeholders Consultation Workshop on the ELEMENT project was held at the DC's Conference Hall in Kohima.
Roshietho Nguori, NCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, welcomed the participants and urged all line departments and stakeholders to contribute their insights for the success of the project. Dr. Vikuolie Mezhatsu, Technical Support Committee Member of ELEMENT, provided a brief introduction to the project, which focuses on Enhancing Landscape and Ecosystem Management for Climate Resilient Agriculture in Nagaland (SoCRAN), funded by the World Bank.
The project comprises four components: strengthening institutional capacities, restoring landscapes for improved ecosystem services, enhancing landscape-based value chains, and project management and evaluation. The project aims to restore and fortify landscapes in Nagaland through forest landscape and ecosystem services management to promote climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods.
The proposed activities encompass community livelihood, integrated agricultural and allied practices, forest-based livelihood, nutrient management, pest and disease control, irrigation, mechanization, marketing infrastructure, afforestation, natural resource conservation, spring rejuvenation, catchment protection, and community capacity building.
The technical session was conducted by Kiran Kumari from Synergy Technofin Pvt. Ltd. India, and department representatives from various sectors participated in a productive one-day workshop.
